Colors (Sekai o Peinto in Japanese, meaning Paint World) is a 3D Platformer game developed and published by Scarce Gaming, released on December 20th, 2000 for the N64 DD in NTSC-JP regions, and December 20th, 2001 for the GameCube worldwide, and then re-released worldwide on December 20th, 2011 for the Wii. The game follows the adventures of 4 anthromorphic Paintbrushes attempting to restore color to the world.

N64 DD Version

The Nintendo 64DD version, released only in Japan, has only 64-bit graphics, but allowed Online Multiplayer and LAN Multiplayer.

Controls

  • Control Stick - Move
  • A - Jump
  • B - Splatter Paint
  • C-Stick - Move Camera
  • X - Paint Roller
  • Y - Pause Game
  • L/R - Zoom in/out

The plot in the N64 DD version is also slightly different than the GameCube version. Instead of the color being removed from the world in the GC version, the world is transformed into a blank canvas.

GameCube Version

The GameCube version, called Sekai o Peinto: Shin'nen (Meaning Paint World: New Year.) in NTSC-JP regions, had 128-bit graphics, but allowed only 1-TV Multiplayer.

Controls

  • Control Stick - Move
  • A - Jump
  • B - Splatter Paint
  • C-Stick - Move Camera
  • X - Paint Roller
  • Start/Pause - Pause Game
  • Y - Select
  • D-Pad - Change Options
  • L/R - Zoom in/out

Wii Version

The Wii Version, called Colors ReMix (Sekai o Peinto: Dai 11-Kai Kinen in NTSC-JP Regions, meaning Paint World: 11th Anniversary.) Had LAN Multiplayer, and Holiday notices.

Controls (Nunchuck Required)

  • Control Stick - Move Character/Camera
  • A - Jump
  • B - Splatter Paint
  • Z - Switch from Move Character mode to Move Camera mode
  • 1 - Paint Roller

  • 2 - Select
  • D-Pad - Change Options.
  • C - Zoom in

The game now slowly zooms out if C is not held.

Game Style

The game plays very similarily to Super Mario 64, with slight exceptions. Each of the 8 Worlds, labelled, "Acts," has 10 Missions, excluding the Final Act, which has 1. The game has 71 Missions, however, only half of the missions (Including the Final Act's Mission.) are required to have been accomplished to beat the game.
