Final Smash Houyoku Sen-Hosenka/Kikosho

Chun-Li (春麗, Shun Rei or Chun Rii) appears as a newcomer in Super Smash Bros. V as a paid DLC Character. She is part of the 3rd Ballot Pack which was released on November 27, 2020.

“Chun-Li is a character in the Street Fighter series. She is the first female player character that appears in the series, one of the series' major lead characters alongside Ryu and Ken and the first playable female character to appear in a 1-on-1 fighting game. Introduced in Street Fighter II, Chun-Li was the only female character in the game, as well as one of the youngest fighters, and while not as physically powerful as the other characters, she is by far the quickest.
Her most famous attack is the Hyakuretsukyaku ("Hundred Rending Legs", commonly known as the "Lightning Kick"), where she repeatedly kicks her opponent from a tilted standing position with incredible speed.”

She is confirmed to have no alternate costume. She is voice by Laura Bailey and Fumiko Orikasa in japanese.

 •
Good mobility on ground and in the air

 •
Good range due to long legs

 •
Very difficult to master

Chun-Li, like Ryu, seems to be more based off her Street Fighter 2 appearance but she has some feats from other, more recent games in her moveset. Chun-Li has a bit of a combo game going but she plays a bit more defensively than Ryu. She has a wall cling and wall jump. She has and average wait and she has most of Ryu’s feats. She also has a high jump. Like Ryu, she is very hard to master. Even more so than Ryu due to her more complex inputs.

Ground Attacks

Name Damage Description
Neutral Attack Hyakuretsukyaku 2%, 3%, 5%, 1% (Hyakuretsukyaku loop), 10% (held) Tapped: Chun-Li does a forward kick, chop jab, then an upwards arced kick. If the button is continued to be hit then held, Chun-Li will proceed to perform a flurry of kicks also known as the Hyakuretsukyaku. Held: Chun-Li performs her classic roundhouse kick.

Floor Attack (back) 7% Gets up doing a spin kick.

Edge Attack 7% Gets up attacking with leg.

Special Attacks

Name Damage Description
Neutral Special Kikoken 4.5, 5%, or 5.5% (standard), 1.2x damage with directional input 1.4x damage with directional input 2 Chun-Li quickly charges and releases a blue projectile which deals low damage and knockback. Only one Kikoken can be in play: attempting to shoot another results in a puff of smoke. Holding down the special button increases projectile speed and damage slightly. There are 3 variants. The first is simply just a tapping of the “B Button”. The second is the main stick charge back then forward plus attack button input which is a slightly stronger Kikoken with a very slightly different release animation. The third is a main stick charge back then semi circle forward plus attack input resulting in a larger, more detailed, and stronger Kikoken. The animation on the third input involves Chun-Li bending and using both hands to release the Kikoken. The input versions can catch opponents off guard as it’d appear that Chun-Li would be walking away instead releasing Kikoken turning around.
Alternate 1 - - -
Alternate 2 - - -
Side Special Spinning Bird Kick 9% (close); 10%, 11%, or 12% (grounded); 8%, 9%, or 10% (aerial); 1.2x damage with directional input, 18% (3rd input total) Chun-Li flips upside down in the air while rotating her legs and moving forward. There are 3 variants. The first is simply just a tapping of the “B Button”. The second is the main stick charge down then up plus attack button input which is a slightly stronger Spinning Bird Kick. The third is a main stick charge down then semi circle upwards plus attack input resulting in an in place Spinning Bird Kick that traps opponents before sending them flying. The third input has very high knockback and makes for an amazing KO move. The Spinning Bird Kick can be used to recover.
Alternate 1 - - -
Alternate 2 - - -
Up Special Hazan Tenshou Kyaku 1.5% (hits 1-5), 5% (hit 6), 4% (traditional input starting hit) Chun-Li kicks upward with a flurry of kicks.. There are 2 variants. The first is simply just a tapping of the “B Button”. The second is a main stick right-down to left-down then arc to up-right input plus the attack or special button. The second variant does more damage as there’s forward kick to start the flurry of kicks upwards and it’s also a bit more flashy. The second variant also has a lot of priority breaking through other moves with case and having all hits ALWAYS connect and it has amazing KO power. Hazan Tenshou Kyaku is a great recovery move.
Alternate 1 - - -
Alternate 2 - - -
Down Special Focus Attack 11%-16% (fully charged) Chun-Li holds a stance while emitting a black ink-like aura, before unleashing a concentrated double handed push that crumples opponents where they stand with a lengthy stun animation if charged for more than half a second. Chun-Li can followup with any attack while the opponent is stuck in the animation. Chun-Li gains super armor that can withstand a single hit while charging; a second hit will interrupt the move. She can also cancel the move by tapping left or right twice to dash a set distance either forward or backward while charging to shrug off strong attacks before retaliating, or if the attack connects, which is called a Focus Attack Dash Cancel; if the punch misses, Chun-Li will be unable to cancel the move. If the move connects on an airborne opponent they will instead by knocked away with some heavy hitlag. The move's charge is indicated by Chun-Li flashing during the startup. With no charge, the attack will knock away opponents. At half a second, the attack will crumple an opponent, while a fully charged Focus Attack will deal more damage and crumple the opponent for longer. While the Focus Attack cannot block grabs and is countered by multi-hit attacks, it is a useful tool for baiting opponents and punishing, while the cancelled version can be beneficial to Chun-Li's recovery while offstage.
Alternate 1 - - -
Alternate 2 - - -
Final Smash Houyoku Sen-Hosenka/Kikosho 51% (Houyoku Sen total), 43% (Kikosho total) Just like Ryu’s, the final smash performed depends on the distance Chun-Li is from her opponent. Houyoku Sen-Hosenka involves Chun-Li dashing forward then attacking the opponent with a flurry of kicks followed by an upwards kick topped of with a rising windbox guided Spinning Bird Kick-like attack. At close range, Kikosho is performed. Kikosho involves Chun-Li trapping her opponent in an animation that involves her charging an aura then release a large energy ball with both hands that grows larger and larger before exploding sending the opponent and anyone trapped in the radius flying.

Victory Theme

A techno remix of the Street Fighter II victory theme. Shared with Ryu.

Fighting Stance

Her exact fighting stance from Street Fighter V with some occasional arm movements that should not be confused with Idle Poses.

Idle Poses

 •
Chun-Li has her hands behind her with fingers interlocked and leans forward with a school-girl giggle.

 •
Chun-Li puts her hand near her mouth and yawns.

Very similar to her Walk animation in the Street Fighter games. More the recent one.

Runs forward with her arms down crossing each other.
