Camerupt is a Fire/Ground Pokémon introduced in Generation 3. It's the evolved form of Numel. It can further Mega Evolve using a Cameruptite.
Basic info[]
It looks like a Bactrian camel. Its "humps" are volcanoes. In what appears to have become something of a running gag with the Pokémon Company, the molten lava Camerupt can produce from those humps is said to be 18,000 degrees Fahrenheit/10,000 Celsius, same as Magcargo's alleged temperature and almost twice as hot as the surface of the sun in real life, as well as roughly nine times hotter than real life lava. Mega Camerupt only has one hump.
While nothing official is noted about it on Bulbapedia or in any notes from the Pokémon staff, Camerupt and Wailord appear to be counterparts: they both appear to be "lesser" forms of Generation 3's two mascots, based on similar animal species and with similar typings. Also, they can both learn Eruption and Water Spout. In Generation 3, the only other Pokémon that could learn those moves were Groudon and Kyogre, respectively.
Camerupt has also been seen as a counterpart to Sharpedo: both are the "mains" of the leaders of Hoenn's two villainous teams, and they both have similar stats and can Mega Evolve.

All canon Pokémon are available in Tropes vs. Women in Pokémon Training, including Camerupt, who underwent a few changes:
- Fire Pokémon are now naturally immune to freezing, so Camerupt's first ability was changed to Oblivious (held over from Numel), as Magma Armor was rendered redundant.
- Solid Rock, Filter, and Prism Armor were buffed so that Camerupt is now only weak to Water, and neutral to Ground.
