3DS Sports is a half-remake half-new game of the Wii Sports franchise, often considered a spin-off of the series. The game re-uses sports from Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort but it also adds new modes to those events. Online play is now available for this game along with tournament mode, which can be played locally and online.

3DS Sports like Wii Sports Club had been released weekly before the full release on the game, on the eShop, the player can buy two sports (or one, in the case of 3DS Sports: Baseball) and test it out on single-player and local multiplayer, online play is not available for the eShop version of the sports, nor is stamps.

3DS Sports gameplay varies from sport to sport, however the game uses two gameplay styles for each sport: Style A only uses the buttons while Style B only uses the touch screen.

Style A

In Style A, the player controls the Mii using the D-Pad while attacking using the L and R triggers, each one corresponding to one of the Mii's fists. Holding down both triggers will make the character block.

Style B

In Style B, the player controls the Mii by sliding the touch screen to the location where the player wants to go. The touch screen is separted in half, each half representing each one of the Mii's fists along with a button on the middle for blocking attacks.
